Arsenic and Old Lace,
Santa Paula Theater Center

NOW – DECEMBER 18

This classic comedy was written by American playwright, Joseph Kesselring in 1939 became best known through the film adaptation starting Cary Grant.  Of the twelve plays written by Kesselring, Arsenic and Old Lace was the most successful, and, according to the opening night review in the New York Times, the play was “so funny that none of us will ever forget it.”  Why? The elderly Brewster sisters have cooked up a new batch of their “Elderberry wine” and are inviting gentlemen callers to sample its delicious taste.  But watch out – it carries quite a kick!  With dead bodies, mistaken identities, bumbling policemen and a bugle blowing ex-President charging up the stairs, this show promises deadly comedy fun for all audiences.
